- A unique Trophy System
- Highly skilled and qualified dance instructors
- An outstanding dance curriculum inspired by Mr. Astaire’s style of dancing
Fred Astaire Trophy System We offer the Fred
Astaire Trophy System as an easy way for you to track your progress
while you enjoy dancing! Our Social and Advanced Foundation Programs
teach beginner students the step patterns and techniques to move
comfortably on the dance floor with any partner. From there, a student
can progress through our Bronze* and Silver* levels - all the way to the Gold*!
Fred Astaire Dance Instructors Hailing from around the world, our teachers are actively competing,
award-winning professionals and gifted educators. Many of our teachers
have degrees in the fine arts and all have passed rigorous exams given
by the Imperial Society of the Teachers of Dance and the Fred Astaire
Curriculum certification.
Fred Astaire Dance Curriculum Our curriculum covers the full range of American, Latin-American,
International Style, and Exhibition/Theatre Arts dances. World famous
dance champions and registered judges on the Fred Astaire National
Dance Board constantly study and review our curriculum to make sure
that only the finest, up-to-date programs are being offered to our
students.
Lessons
Fred Astaire San Antonio offers students the option of private lessons, group
lessons and weekly practice parties. Lessons can be purchased individually or
in packages.
Private Lessons consist of an instructor working one-on-one with either an
individual or a couple. They are forty-five minutes in length and start on the
hour. The last private lesson begins at 9pm Mon-Fri, or 3pm on Saturdays. Private
instruction with one or more teachers provides each student with the specialized
and personalized attention necessary to develop the ability to lead and follow
a partner.
Group lessons consist of an instructor working with a group of individuals
or couples. You do not need a partner to attend any group lessons. Group lessons
are an important aid to private instruction, in that patterns, technique and
style are featured in these lessons. More importantly, group lessons provide
every student with the opportunity to meet other students with similar dancing
goals. Group lessons are fourty-five minutes in length and begin at 8pm on Monday,
Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday; classes alternate from month to month to fit
various student schedules. Please see the “Event Calendar” page
for the schedule of group lessons, or pick up a monthly schedule at the reception
desk next time you are in the studio.
Our regular weekly parties are held every Thursday from 8-9pm and provide an
ideal atmosphere in which to practice with teachers and other students. The
atmosphere is similar to a nightclub environment, and students can cut loose
as they practice their moves and work on floorcraft! Free food and beverages
are served. This is an excellent way for students to meet other students and/or
network within the Stone Oak area.
Special guest parties are held once a month. These parties are specifically
geared toward studio newcomers, friends and acquaintances of our existing students.
Think of how much more fun activities would be when all of your friends could
dance, too! Word of mouth is our best advertisement of all, and we give free
lessons to students that bring in qualified guests.
